Dimples cakes was opened from Harriet Da Costa’s home bakery in May 2013. She specialises in cupcakes, celebration cakes and other yummy treats for all occasions. Other tasty treats available are, hand decorated cookies and biscuits, tray bakes and coloured meringues. Dimples cakes also offer gluten free services and Harriet has developed her own recipe’s since being diagnosed with coeliac disease is 2012. You can make anything gluten free if you wish.
Being diabetic and coeliac, Harriet is always coming up with new delicious recipes to suit people with special dietary needs. She uses gluten and wheat free flours such as potato, rice or maize, when baking for her self but uses other quality flours when baking for the rest of the south coast. Harriet also uses half sugars like ‘silver spoon half sugar’ when baking for a family member with diabetes.
Harriet has qualified as a chef from Southampton City College and has gained her level 2 NVQ in Professional Chef and cookery and her level 2 NVQ Food and Beverage, Front of house.
Along the way she has also gained her 4 Distinctions in her level 2 ABC award in General Patisserie and Confectionary, award in level 1 Barista, BIIAB level 1 award in Responsible Alcohol Retailing and finally her level 2 in City and Guilds award in Contact Dermatitis.
Starting in September ’13, Harriet will be doing her ABC Level 1 Cake Decorating course at Bournemouth and Poole College.
